Young Children’s Village Capital Campaign

In 2010, The Crossnore School launched a Centennial endowment campaign with a goal of $13 Million to secure the School’s future for another 100 years. In 2013, under new leadership, we added a $7 Million capital component increasing the overall campaign goal to $20 Million. We have secured $15.6 Million in gifts and pledges to date, 79% of the goal. We are anxious to complete both parts of this campaign so we can secure our future and serve more children who desperately need our help.

The capital component of this campaign includes two exciting phases of work.  First, we are breaking ground this fall on a new $1.3 Million High School building to expand our on-site K-12 charter school.  This new addition is directly adjacent to the existing education building and will provide a more traditional high school experience for our older students. Once completed, the new High School will increase our charter school capacity by 50%.

The second capital phase includes building a Young Children’s Village consisting of three cottages, one acre of green playground space and community gardens on three recently acquired acres adjoining our property. This new Young Children’s Village will allow us to serve thirty additional children, thereby increasing our capacity to serve residential foster care students by 30%.  The estimated cost for the cottages is $4.9 Million.

In the past five months, The Crossnore School as turned away over eighty children because of lack of space.  We know from experience that when we turn away young children in sibling groups they are often spilt up and placed in different foster homes. Our goal is the expand Crossnore School’s proven model of hope and healing to serve more children who are languishing in the traditional foster care system.  This capital project will allow us to expand our reach and improve the life outcomes for countless children for years to come.
